part of the New Media division of Al Arabiya News Channel, has an
exciting opportunity to work as a Senior Journalist on our English Web
Team based in Dubai. The position is for seasoned journalists whose
native language is English and are interested in a fast-paced,
challenging position with room to grow. The position offers a
competitive salary, housing and transportation allowance, health
benefits and 4 weeks vacation each year.





Duties include:

1. Write original stories, report, conduct interviews and make editorial decisions on news coverage
2. Edit stories by journalists and coach junior staff writers
3. Assign stories to translator and edit
4. "Arabize" and post wire copy
5. Write headlines, select photos, rank stories
6. Review the Arabic press; translate and rewrite good stories
7. Create slideshows, special features sections
8. Plan and do special coverage for major events, anniversaries
9. Moderate comments
10. Select and publish opinion pieces
11. Develop and ensure compliance with style guides
12. Contribute to the long-term planning for the website








REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ABOVE POSITIONS:

1. Excellent English. Some Arabic preferred
2. Sound awareness of Middle East affairs
3. BA in related field (Journalism, Communications, Middle East Studies), MA preferred
4. Ability to write solid English news stories
5. Knowledge of news style (preferably AP)
6. Conduct research in English & Arabic
7. Conduct high-level interviews in English
8. Good network of contacts and potential sources
9. Interest in news and current affairs
10. Good communicator / team player
11. Ability to work evenings, weekends, shifts
12. Ability to work under pressure, deadlines

"عرّبْ" وأرسلْ نسخةَ سلكِ 5. إكتبْ العناوين البارزةَ، صور منتقاة، قصص غزيرة النمو 6. راجعْ الصحافةَ العربيةَ؛ ترجمْ وأعدْ كتابة قصصَ جيدةَ 7. إخلقْ slideshows، تُقسّمُ ميزّاتَ خاصّةَ 8. الخطة وتَعمَلُ تغطيةُ خاصّةُ للأحداثِ الرئيسيةِ، مناسبات 9. التعليقات المعتدلة 10. المنتقاة وتَنْشرُ قِطَعَ الرأي 11. طوّرْ وإضمنْ إلتزاماً بأدلاءِ أسلوبِ 12. ساهمْ في التخطيط الطويل الأجلِ لموقعِ الويب
